PKR Heads Up Event to Feature Dwan and Schwartz, by Jessica Welman - 8th September 2009

The railbirds at the nosebleed cash games on Full Tilt Poker that loved watching Luke “FullFlush1″ Schwartz mouth off to Tom “durrrr” Dwan earlier this year will be happy to hear there is yet another chance for the two to face off on the felt in person. Both Dwan and Schwartz have been tapped to play in the upcoming PKR Heads Up Grand Slam invitational event.

The televised event will feature a bracket-style tournament that pits a total of 32 players against each other in deep stack, heads-up matches. The buy-in is $10,000 and there will be a grand total of $350,000 up for grabs in the prize pool. Some of the other pros confirmed to be joining Dwan and Schwartz are JC Tran, PokerStars Pro Vicky Coren, WPT Championship winner Yevgeniy “atimos” Timoshenko, Annette “Annette_15” Obrestad, Nam Le, Sammy George and Full Tilt Pro Roland de Wolfe. The event will be taped and broadcast on UK’s Sky Sports over the course of eight two-hour episodes.

In addition to his poker prowess, Schwartz is also known around the poker world for his penchant for trash talking and outspoken nature. Ever since Schwartz began playing in the high stakes cash games on Full Tilt, he has been particularly critical of Dwan and his group of friends within the poker community. Schwartz has hinted at taking on durrrr in both the online and live “durrrr Challenges” in which opponents face off against Dwan in a series of heads-up matches, but nothing had come to fruition.

In the past two weeks all that has changed though, as the PKR Heads Up event marks the second televised tournament which will feature the two young pros. In August, PartyPoker announced the two would be playing in their upcoming event, the PartyPoker World Open V. That event, also being recorded for television, features a series of single table Sit & Go heats with players from each heat advancing to the final table.

Neither of these matches guarantees that Dwan and Schwartz will bump heads at the same table, but it now gives those eager to see the two together in a brick and mortar setting even more opportunities for their wish to come true. The PKR Heads Up Grand Slam will take place in London from October 8th-10th and the World Open V will film immediately after that, running at the Palm Beach Casino from October 11th-15th.

The PKR Heads Up Grand Slam may be an invitation-only event, but it will be open to more than just the top pros. The site is currently running satellites on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays in which players can qualify to play in the Heads Up Grand Slam Online Finale taking place from September 29th through October 1st. Only 32 players will advance to the online finals, which consist of a series of three heads-up matches. The 16 players who survive Round One on the 29th advance to Round Two the next day. On the final day of play, the eight remaining players will battle in one last heads-up showdown and each of the four winners will gain entry into the live and televised Heads Up Grand Slam Event.

The four satellite prize packages are each valued at $12,000 and include a buy-in into the October event as well as $2,000 for travel expenses. Those interested in satelliting their way into the online final can do so for as little as $7.28.

The upcoming heads-up event is not the only live tournament with PKR sponsorship on the horizon. The site recently announced it’s popular PKR Live event will be returning for a third installment from November 20th-22nd at The Loose Cannon Club in London. A special $200 Bounty tournament will be offered in addition to the $1,000 buy-in Main Event, which is expected to offer a first place prize of $40,000. (Credit: Poker News Daily)

PKR to Broadcast 24 WSOP Final Tables, by Dan Cypra - Poker News Daily - 25th May 2009

Independent online poker room PKR has announced that it will air the final tables of 24 World Series of Poker (WSOP) tournaments as the “exclusive sole live broadcaster.” The news comes on the heels of an announcement that ESPN360.com and BluffMagazine.com will also stream 24 events.

PKR has set up a free website dedicated to WSOP coverage from the Rio in Las Vegas. Of the 24 events that will make up PKR’s live coverage, the site is looking forward to the $50,000 buy-in HORSE Championship. Last year, it was infamously won by Expekt Poker pro Scotty Nguyen, who was allegedly inebriated during the festivities and visibly hostile to both his tablemates and Rio staff. Nevertheless, Nguyen became the third winner of the prestigious event, which awards the Chip Reese Trophy to the winner. The late Reese took down the inaugural 2006 version, besting Full Tilt Poker pro Andy Bloch heads-up. In 2007, the $50,000 buy-in HORSE Championship was won by Freddy Deeb, who defeated Bruno Fitoussi to earn $2.3 million.

PKR will also carry several final tables of the $10,000 buy-in events. The World Championship of Heads-Up No Limit Hold’em is Event #29 and was won last year by Kenny Tran, who outlasted Alec Torelli in the final match. World Poker Tour (WPT) Founder Lyle Berman took fifth in that contest, with a bevy of world-class pros finishing near the top. The World Championship of Pot Limit Omaha will also air on PKR. In 2008, Boyle Poker pro Marty Smyth captured his first bracelet in it and defeated Peter Jetten. Coming in third place was Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi, who earned over $330,000 for his efforts.

PKR Marketing Director Simon Prodger commented in a press release distributed by the online poker site, “The World Series of Poker is without doubt the biggest event of the poker calendar and it fills me with delight that PKR has managed to scoop exclusive rights to be the official broadcaster for these 24 bracelet events.” PKR has also become the official non-U.S. sponsor of the WSOP’s official website. A large PKR ad now dons the top of the site. The gray menu bar, which in the United States is sponsored by Bluff Magazine, is sponsored by PKR outside of the North American nation. The WSOP Countdown is also presented by PKR and the site has information at the bottom of the page about its WSOP satellites and along with a host of ads.

Among those events that will be shown on PKR are:

Event #4: $1,000 No Limit Hold’em Stimulus Special
Event #17: $1,000 Ladies Championship
Event #18: $10,000 World Championship Omaha High-Low Split Eight or Better
Event #29: $10,000 World Championship Heads-Up No Limit Hold’em
Event #33: $10,000 World Championship Limit Hold’em
Event #35: $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha
Event #40: $10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Omaha
Event #41: $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout
Event #45: $10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Hold’em
Event #49: $50,000 World Championship HORSE event

PKR was one of the first online poker sites to popularize the concept of 3D poker. On the last Sunday of every month, the room offers the $100,000 Guaranteed PKR Masters, a $250 buy-in tournament that pays out at least $25,000 to its winner. $27 direct buy-in satellites are available, as are a multitude of options starting as low as $0.52 or 900 PKR Points. PKR regularly offers a $30,000 guaranteed prize pool tournament on other Sundays that comes with a price tag of $88. Every day except Wednesday, the site offers an $18 buy-in $10,000 guaranteed tournament along with a Daily $17K.

According to PokerScout.com, which keeps tabs on online poker room traffic, PKR is the 14th largest network or site worldwide with a seven day running average of 790 cash game players. It does not accept U.S. customers. (Credit: Poker News Daily)

PKR Announces Pro Team, by Brett Collson - Poker News Daily - 16th April 2009

Joining the likes of the other major online poker rooms, next generation poker site PKR.com today announced the roster of its new “Team PKR Pro.” The six new members will represent PKR.com and act as brand ambassadors for the website.

“Team PKR Pro” will be exclusively sponsored by PKR and act as brand representatives at live events, as well as offering a variety of content for the PKR.com website and PKR TV. They will also be available to play on the PKR.com site in both cash games and specially organized bounty tournaments.

The inaugural members of the team include TV celebrity Ashley Hames (ashleyhames1), GUKPT winner Andrew Teng (PKR username “golfpro699”) and 2008 Irish Open finalist Kai Danilo Paulsen (kingkai84), along with PKR community members Raymond O’Mahoney (callmebabe), James Sudworth (James666) and PKR Live runner-up Henrik Eklund (pokey85).

“We’ve been following our initial ‘Team PKR Pro’ members for some time and are convinced that they all have the game and personality required to be genuinely world class poker players”, said PKR Marketing Director Simon Prodger. “They are also among the most recognized and respected players within the PKR community so are guaranteed to have over two and a half million people cheering them on every time they play.”

Here’s a closer look at each of the new members of “Team PKR Pro”:

Henrik “Pokey85” Eklund (Stockholm, Sweden) -- Eklund, 24, has been playing poker for four years. The Swede has been a regular at PKR’s nosebleed cash game tables since April 2007 and began to make a name for himself on the live tournament scene by taking second place at the inaugural PKR Live in November 2008 followed by a victory in the APT Manila Headhunter side event. Henrik’s ambition for 2009 (beyond winning the WSOP) is to make a final table of a major event.

Ashley “ashleyhames1” Hames (London, UK) -- Ashley Hames is a popular TV presenter and writer who is known for his series Sin Cities -- still Bravo’s highest rating show ever in the UK. Hames is also the PKR TV commentator. He began playing poker in 2008 and rates his poker highs as playing in the WSOP main event, reaching the final of Celebrity Poker Club and playing on the TV table at this year’s Irish Open.

Raymond “callmebabe” O’Mahoney (Dublin, Republic of Ireland) -- Like Eklund, O’Mahoney has been cutting his teeth at the highest cash games and tournaments since April 2007. His first major live cash came courtesy of the inaugural PKR Live $500 Main Event, where he finished fourth for $6,500. Ray’s goal is to win his home major, the Irish Open.

Kai “KingKai” Paulsen (Trondheim, Norway) -- The 25-year-old Norwegian has the finest live tournament record of any PKR regular with more than $322,000 in earnings. PKR Launches New Software Upgrade, by Brett Collson - Poker News Daily - 9th April 2009

Imaginative poker site PKR has launched an array of new features and games to its award-winning software.

The online poker room, which features real-time 3D graphics and a videogame experience, added Omaha Hi/Lo to its most recent upgrade, as well as several other features and items in the PKR Shop. The popular Omaha Hi/Lo Pot Limit and Limit options will now be available across cash games, Sit & Gos and Multi-table Tournaments.

PKR has also added Mini Roulette to its online casino, joining Blackjack and Casino Hold’em on the site’s table game roster. Mini Roulette is just like American or European Roulette only with fewer numbers. PKR also offers Craps, Sic Bo and Wild Viking among its wide variety of casino games.

A new “time bank” feature has been added to the poker software to give players additional time if needed to make a critical decision. In cash games, the more hands you are dealt means more time added to your bank -- up to the table maximum -- while in tournament play the additional time allotted to each player is fixed. In addition, PKR has added a “Break Skip” option so that players can opt out of regular breaks at the final table of a Multi-table Tournament. If all players decide to skip their break then the action will continue right away.

PKR’s Shop has also taken a step up. Players will be able to spend their PKR points on a wide range of high-end electronics as well as new poker books, accessories and subscriptions to PKR.com’s partner training site Bluefire Poker, hosted by high-stakes legend and World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Galfond. In tournaments, players receive 100 PKR points for every $1 spent in entry fees. At cash tables, points are awarded based on raked hands and calculated against the amount that a player has put into the pot divided between the other players at the table.

“Our community is highly valued and as we grow we like to make sure we provide our players with exactly what they need”, said PKR Marketing Director Simon Prodger. “Many of the features in our updates are in response to popular demand and we are constantly working on improvements for the future.” (Credit: Poker News Daily)

Bluefire Poker Partners with PKR for Content, Training Subscriptions, by Tom Jenkins - Poker News Daily - 14th March 2009

Bluefire Poker, which recently made waves by challenging U.S. President Barack Obama or any member of Congress to a charity heads-up poker match, inked an agreement with PKR this week. As part of the terms of the deal, PKR will become Bluefire Poker's exclusive partner in Europe.

Bluefire Poker, a quickly growing poker training site, is fronted by Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond, a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet holder and fierce high-stakes cash game player. Galfond is known as "Jman" on the training site. Other pros include Niman "Samoleus" Kenkre, Jason "PBJaxx" Senti, Martin "Giggy" Fournier Giguère, Ryan "Fees" Fees, and Don "SoCalQuest" Nguyen. The site is primarily focused on cash games and Galfond is scheduled to release four to six videos per month.

According to traffic ranking site PokerScout.com, PKR ranks as the 14th largest worldwide in terms of cash game volume with a seven day running average of 870 players. Its 24 hour peak is nearly double that figure, 1,405. At the time of writing, which is early evening in London, PKR boasts a total of 1,104 real money ring game players. PKR is one of the few independent online poker sites in the world. Other rooms not part of a larger network include the Net's largest site, PokerStars, as well as Full Tilt Poker and PartyPoker. PKR's 3-D graphics have made it a popular destination for poker enthusiasts around the globe.

Galfond and other Bluefire Poker pros will provide strategy content for PKR's website as well as PKR TV. According to a press release distributed by the online poker site this week, its 2.5 million players will be able to exchange their hard-earned loyalty points in the PKR Shop for subscriptions to Bluefire Poker. Simon Prodger, PKR's Marketing Director, commented, "We're delighted that PKR will be Bluefire's exclusive European partner, as we fully expect them to become the most interesting and important web-based poker training service available."

Bluefire Poker's $1 million challenge to Obama or a member of Congress caught the eye of the entire industry, as well as cable station Fox News. Recently, former World Poker Tour Hostess Courtney Friel reported that Bluefire Poker had challenged any lawmaker on Capitol Hill to a game of poker. The President or Congressional member would put up $1 to enter. If they could defeat a Bluefire Poker pro, they would win $1 million for the charity of their choice. However, no details were given as to how many hands would be played or what genre of poker would be utilized. The site has not yet been taken up on its offer. Bluefire Poker was founded in January by Galfond and Bill Murphy.

CardRunners, another popular poker training site, has a standing relationship with Full Tilt Poker. Several CardRunners pros have become sponsored members of Full Tilt, including Taylor "Green Plastic" Caby, Andrew "muddywater" Wiggins, Isaac "westmenloAA" Baron, and 2007 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure winner Ryan "Daut44" Daut. CardRunners recently merged with StoxPoker and launched Truly Free Poker Training. Much like the arrangement between PKR and Bluefire Poker, members of Full Tilt can rack up points to use for free training subscriptions to both CardRunners and StoxPoker. CardRunners regularly runs $27.99 per month and has a $99 sign-up fee. StoxPoker eliminated its sign-up fee when the merge occurred. Other popular training sites include PokerXFactor, which is flanked by Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy and Eric "sheets" Haber, and Real Poker Training.

At the time of writing, Bluefire Poker offers a library of 47 videos. Recent additions include Galfond playing heads-up Pot Limit Omaha against Whitelime and Nguyen four tabling $100 No Limit on Full Tilt. Murphy is looking forward to Bluefire Poker's pros putting their skills to the test by producing content for PKR: "Our relationship with PKR is exciting in that it enables us to be involved with another company that is dedicated to their customers and looks to exceed their expectations, which is a rare quality in our industry."

On the last Saturday of every month, PKR hosts The Masters, a $100,000 guaranteed tournament with a $250 buy-in; you'll find the site's top tournament pros battling it out at 20:00 GMT. On Sundays, PKR offers a $50,000 guaranteed tournament that comes with a $65 price tag. You can also find daily high-stakes guaranteed events on the popular online poker site, including a $12,500 prize pool contest that runs every day except for Wednesdays. (Credit: Poker News Daily)

PKR.com launch huge game update

07 January 2009

Not content with developing ‘the world’s most advanced poker room’ the pioneers at PKR.com have raised the bar yet again with the release of their latest game update.
With over 50 new features, tweaks, and improvements to PKR.com’s market leading poker software, ‘Version 1.7’ is the site’s biggest update ever and players are already enjoying the new offerings:

New environments
Topping the must-see list are three exciting new game environments designed to immerse players in some of the coolest poker locations ever. A Chinese themed casino gives players a taste of the orient while an Egyptian themed poker room transports players to the days when magical kingdoms ruled the Nile. To top things off an underground wine bar caters to the smooth sophistication of PKR’s hip, young card sharks.

Even more realistic
Players will also enjoy even more enhanced gameplay. Tournaments will now end with an eye-popping celebration sequence and PKR’s team of crack developers have also added slick new physics modelling that makes hair move realistically when players perform emotes. Christmas costumes were also added to the mix to cater for the festive seasons.

Better games
Of course PKR has always been more than just a pretty face and the site is always improving the games it offers players. The addition of re-buy tournaments is bound to spice up MTT action with even more excitement and bigger guaranteed prizes.
PKR COO Leon Walters said, “This is our biggest update yet and our development team are really proud and excited about what we’ve been able to accomplish – we think the improvements and enhancements to the game are going to be a massive hit”.

And more...
PKR have also responded to player feedback by reducing the load time of the game even further and introducing a wider range of payment options. Players can now top up their PKR account (and cash out their winnings) with the paysafecard and ClickandBuy. And, with the addition of PKR.ru, Russian has been added to the list of 12 languages that PKR offer customers.

Asian Poker Tour comes to Manila - 24th January 2009

After the success of the Asian Poker Tour (APT) events in Manila and Macau last year, the biggest and original poker tour in Asia once again holds its 2009 tour in Manila.

Just like last year, the Asian Poker Tour Philippines 2009 will attract top professional and amateur poker players around the world.

With an estimated $1-M in prize money, world-renowned poker masters and fans will gather to showcase their poker mastery and skills on Jan. 27 to Feb. 1 at Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati.

It is estimated that more than 800 players will participate in the various tournaments. International poker superstars like Quinn Do, David “Chino” Rheem and Nam Le have confirmed their participation as well as other leading Filipino players.

The main tournament will be the No Limit Texas Hold’em event, which will be played in four days.

The tournament begins with two flights (1A and 1B), then Day 2 and the Final Day (Sunday) where big cash prizes await the winners. For walk-ins and those who are no longer playing in the main tournament, cash games will be running on-site, as well as special events such as the PKR Headhunter Tournament and the Dafa Poker “PLO” Pot Limit Omaha, which, incidentally, will be the first time this particular game is played in Asia at a major poker event.

Omaha, popular among European and North American poker players, is gaining a following in Asia. Local celebrities will be invited to join a charity poker event where their cash prizes will be donated to charity organizations of their choice.

Celebrities expected to participate include Dingdong Dantes, Maui Taylor, Rajo Laurel, Andrea del Rosario, Jinno Rufino, Mo Twister and Tessa Prieto-Valdes.

The Asian Poker Tour Philippines 2009 is owned and managed by the AsianLogic Limited, an Asia-Pacific on-line and land-based gaming company. For details, call 889-3413 or visit www.asianpt.com.

APT Ambassador JC Tran Dominates PartyPoker.com Premier League III

26th November 2008 (London, UK) – Asian Poker Tour ambassador JC Tran’s excellent run at PartyPoker.com Premier League III has continued after he won his first two heats and finished runner-up in his third. JC now sits clearly at the top of the table with 26 points at the $1.25 million event for 12 elite players in London.

Tran, who is also representing team PKR, won his first heat on day one at the expense of World Champion Peter Eastgate and has continued his great form. Cheered on by a large contingent in the green room, including WSOP Main Event final table pal David ‘Chino’ Rheem, and ‘Poker Pack’ pals Nam Le and Quinn Do he put on other great display. When it got heads-up he held 476,000 to Vicky Coren’s 124,000 and he looked the likely winner throughout. The decisive hand saw Tran raise with A6 off-suit and pushed all-in by Coren with KK. An ace on the flop was enough to take it down.

JC’s third heat was hugely eventful. All the previous heats had seen very few eliminations in early levels but this game was different and it very quickly become a heads-up battle between JC and Peter Eastgate. The 2008 WSOP Main Event champion completely run over the field and looked to be home and dry but the blinds were only at 2,000 – 4,000. Eastgate sat with 541,000 to Tran’s 59,000, a very different scenario to when the pair met on day one when the chip counts going into the heads-up stage were more level. Remarkably, as a 9-1 underdog, Tran fought back to hold the chip lead. Eastgate, however, eventually got his revenge for his defeat at the hands of Tran on day one to pick up 10 points. Eastgate pushed all-in with K3 and was called by Tran with A7. A king on the flop was enough to seal the deal for the $9 million Dane. With 6 points from the heat, however, JC is the man to beat and holds a very comfortable lead at the top of the league table and he looks set to qualify for the deep stacked final table on Sunday.

JC said: “It’s going great here in London, maybe I should move here! I was very pleased to come back in the heads-up after being a 9-1 dog but I was confident there was a way back as there was still so much play left at the table. It is a shame I couldn’t eventually win this heat but I am very happy with 26 points and topping the table.”

PartyPoker.com Premier League III sees the buy-in elevated to $75,000 and the added money raised to $350,000, making a total prize pool of $1.25 million. The series features 12 of the world’s best players playing in a unique league format. All 12 players will play six times in the preliminary stages. The leading four players will then progress to the final table with the next four battling it out in heads-up matches for the final two seats. Phil Hellmuth leads the strongest ever line-up that includes Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan, JC Tran, Nenad Medic, Devilfish, Tony G, Vicky Coren, Annette Obrestad, Roland de Wolfe, Andy Black, Juha Helppi and WSOP Main Event winner Peter Eastgate.

PARTYPOKER.COM PREMIER LEAGUE III – 24th – 30th November

Next gen poker room PKR com makes online poker chip tricks a reality

1st December 2008

Until now, chip tricks had been the preserve of poker pro’s playing in land-based casinos. But thanks to PKR, the next-generation 3D poker room, chip tricks will be available to all online poker players.

When you take a seat at a poker table, there’s nothing more intimidating than a grizzled looking gambling veteran staring you down through mirrored shades while doing weird and wonderful things with the poker chips in front of him. It says - no make that shouts - “don’t mess with me”.

If you’re in any doubt as to the role chip tricks play in developing table image, just watch any episode of the World Poker Tour or World Series of Poker, where you’ll see every player constantly play with their chips, regardless of whether they’re a poker pro or internet qualifier.

And as in so many walks of life, what people see on TV they replicate in real life. Play in any home game or at any casino these days and you can’t help but notice players riffling, rolling and flipping their chips during and between hands.

Making poker chip tricks work online

“Every poker player, regardless of experience, loves chip tricks” says Leon Walters, Chief Operating Officer of PKR.com. Walters goes on to explain that “PKR’s key challenge was to get these tricks into the game so that the animation works within a three-dimensional environment”.

And how they work. Players at PKR will be able to perform a wide-range of chip tricks including chip shuffling, knuckle rolls, chip spreads and chip balances. What’s more, PKR’s team of artists and animators are working on new chip trick additions so that the range of poker chip tricks offered are ever-expanding. As Walter’s says, “If you can do it in real life, you’ll be able to do it in the game.”

Making the poker chip tricks relevant to the game

“One thing we didn’t want to do was just include poker chip tricks in the game for the sake of it” continues Walters. “So we tried to replicate the role that poker chip tricks play in real life and import it into our virtual environment.”

PKR’s innovative solution has been to apply a loyalty point value to chip tricks, with complex tricks carrying a greater loyalty point tariff than simpler ones. As Walter’s explains, “Just in real life, the more you play poker the more chip tricks you can perform. By having to ‘learn’ how to perform chip tricks, we’ve managed to combine the fun of performing them with the serious idea of why players value them.”

Three new locations released on PKR - 21st December 2008

PKR have added three new lush locations for their players to play poker in.

The popular 3D poker room has already made a name for itself as the most graphically pleasing poker room on the web and the latest updates to their poker client has enhanced the belief that PKR can’t be touched in as far as the look and feel of the player’s surroundings.

Players can now play their poker in a classy underground wine bar, an Egyptian-themed casino and an expensive Chinese wine bar. This is in addition to various other locations such as a cruise ship and a tropical island which have been around since PKR launched.

Other changes affecting the graphics have also been made to the PKR poker client. For the first time a “celebration sequence” will be played when you emerge victorious from a particular tournament. Once the final pot has been won, your online character will push back his/her chair back from the table. They will then stand up and raise their arms in the air to acknowledge the crowd that has been watching them while dollar bills fall from the ceiling.

The new updates to PKR don’t take long to download and add some really nice touches to ensure that the player’s experience goes deeper than ever before.

Deal or No-Deal debuts on PKR - 27th May 2008

For those of you wondering how to be on Deal or No Deal, look no further than PKR.

The online poker room has used its trademark 3D graphics to re-create the show’s TV studio in stunning detail- right down to it’s UK host Noel Edmonds who is on hand to guide you through proceedings.

The online format of the game will closely mirror the format of the television show, allowing fans to play Deal or No Deal for money. Those familiar with the show should feel comfortable diving straight into the action. Those who haven’t seen it can be assured that it’s an incredibly easy game to pick up:

Pick a box:

As the main contestant, you choose one of 26 boxes as your own and hope that it contains a large cash prize.

Choose boxes you want to open:

You will then be asked to open six more boxes held by the people around you. Each box will contain a sum of cash, which will then become unavailable to you. You want the boxes that you open to contain as smaller cash prize as possible.

Banker’s Offer:
After all six boxes have been opened, the banker will make you a cash offer for the box that you have chosen. Based on the sums of money that are still available to you, you will need to decide whether to accept his offer, or continue to open another six boxes.

Open more boxes:
If you decide to refuse the bankers offer, you will be asked to open a further six boxes before another offer is made. The game continues like this until you either accept the banker’s offer … or you go down to the last two boxes.

The last two boxes:
When only two boxes remain, you will be given the chance to swap boxes. The box you have in front of you will then be opened, and you will win the cash prize that is inside it.

All prize money will be deposited directly into your PKR account so that you can use it at the Poker Tables or in the Casino should you wish.

The cost of playing ranges from $0.50 up to $100 for each game with the highest payout being 10 times the stake of the game. So, for example the top prize for the following buy-ins will be as follows:

Buy-in Top Prize
$0.50 $5
$5 $50
$20 $200
$100 $1000

If you’re an existing member of PKR, you can use your current account and avatar to play the game. Simply login to PKR and then choose the Deal or No Deal tab.
New players will need to register their details at http://www.pkr.com

London TV personality to represent PKR at UK event

3rd December 2008

LONDON, England -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- PKR.com has announced that London based TV presenter Ashley Hames will represent the next-gen site at this week's GCBPT held in Bristol.

The Gala Casinos British Poker Tour is one of the UK's most exciting events, attracting players from all corners of the world. The Grand Final of this year's tour returns to Bristol where seven days of action will culminate in the crowning of the second Great British Poker Champion. Prizes for the festival total £400,000 with three quarters of that sum allocated to the Main Event.

Hames, who will be representing PKR at the event, shot to fame for his saucy exploits hosting Bravo's number one rated Sin Cities. A keen poker player and PKR TV commentator, Hames remains enthusiastic about his chances at the £1,500 buy-in event saying, "I'm going to Bristol to take this tournament down! I can't wait to hit the felt and take on some of the UK finest players."

The timing may be perfect for Hames - his GCBPT appearance comes just days after JC Tran emphatically took down the third PartyPoker.com Premier League while representing PKR. The APT ambassador wore PKR branded clothing for the whole event and also made a guest appearance on PKR.com alongside Nam Le, Chino Rheem and Quinn Do in a special APT Pro Bounty tournament.

APT Ambassador JC Tran Dominates PartyPoker.com Premier League

London – 26th November 2008 – Asian Poker Tour ambassador JC Tran’s excellent run at PartyPoker.com Premier League III has continued after he won his first two heats and finished runner-up in his third.

Online poker gets real, by Dominic Wells - The Times - 20th November 2008

Web poker enthusiast Dominic Wells attends the first annual PKR Live tournament and walks away with a chunk of the $75,000 prize pool

Last week, 22-year-old Peter Eastgate became the youngest ever World Series of Poker champion, beating 6,843 other players to win a record $9.1 million. The game is bigger than ever, yet its outlaw past clings: two years ago the US banned the operation of online poker sites. Perhaps that’s all part of poker’s pull on the psyche. It whiffs, still, of riverboats and last-chance saloons, of Bond tuxedoes and cocktail dresses slit right up to here. It’s a gladiatorial arena in which bluff and cunning and nerve count for as much as the dry calculation of odds, where fortunes are made or lost on the turn of a card or the tremble of a hand.

The internet site that caters most directly to these fantasies is PKR.com, which this weekend held its first live tournament: 150 players, some travelling from France, Germany, Scandinavia and even Canada, descended on the Loose Cannon Club in London for a crack at a $75,000 prize pool. PKR’s unique gimmick is that you choose your own 3D avatar to interact with others in an amazingly realistic way. And now these virtual gamblers were playing each other in the real world for the first time. It promised to be a fascinating experiment: how would the fantasy of poker live up to the reality?

As we take our seats, the most glaring discrepancy is how few women there are: no more than one per table, sometimes none. The conclusion is inescapable. Some of those women you’re flirting with online… may not be women at all.

Take John, screenname GeorgieBoy4 after his son. In baseball cap and a beard, he couldn’t be more blokey. But his avatar, he confesses, is a leggy brunette. “I think players do treat you differently as a woman,” he says. “They’re less inclined to think you might be bluffing.” And do they flirt? “Oh yeah. One bloke, when he found out we were both coming to the tournament, said he’d buy me a drink, and then asked what hotel I’d be staying at. He’s in for a bit of a surprise!”

Conversely, at the end of my table is Martin, screenname ManOnFire. A young hunk in a “Counter Terrorist” T-shirt, with tattoos climbing up both bulging biceps, he says he once played on PKR “and this guy starting having a go at me. Like, ‘God, you’re so sad, choosing a muscle-bound avatar with huge tribal tattoos on the arms.’ Er, excuse me? That’s who I am!”

As for the man to my right, he says he recently became a werewolf (PKR offers some special options around Halloween and Christmas). But in real life he’s not fierce enough to repulse my finest bluff of the day.

Crucially, I’ve already established my “table presence”: I’m dressed in a Kenzo jacket and a black trilby with a sparkly skull-and-crossbones; I turn up late but unflustered and immediately start talking to my table-mates. I make an intimidatingly large raise early on; when I toss in a rubbish hand, I make out it’s a wise fold of a good hand in honour of one that I can sense is better. All this is designed to spell out “don’t mess with me”.

Back to Mr Werewolf: when he raises 400, I re-raise with my pair of sixes. He calls. The next three cards on the flop are no help – a Queen and a couple of nonentities – but all the same I confidently stick in a big raise of 2,000. He thinks hard. I keep cool, though I swear that if I weren’t wearing a jacket, you could see my heart leaping under my shirt. At long last the hapless lycanthrope folds, exposing his cards: an Ace… and a Queen! He’s only folded the top pair, with an Ace kicker! To push someone off a great hand through sheer force of will is a thrill, and something you can’t pull off online.

Not long afterwards, I knock another player out after I hit a flush, which I “slowplay” – that’s when you decline to raise, which might scare the other guy off, but call if he does so. With luck he’ll interpret this as weakness, and stick in all his chips. The best thing about it is not so much taking the guy’s stack of 7,000, but doing so while getting a massage at the poker table from an Ibiza Angel – one of a travelling troupe of trained lovelies in white, who minister to the aching shoulders of weary players. “I’ll be lucky for you,” she breathes in my ear, and so it proves. Now if online play can throw up anything quite so James Bond, I have yet to find it.

I won’t detail all the many, many hands during the long, occasionally thrilling, often arduous slog to the final two tables where the money is. Suffice to say that I survive the first day’s play, breaking up at 2.30am after 12 continuous hours when 150 players have become 20, and I go out honourably the following afternoon in 15th place to win $1,100. I have my time quite literally in the spotlight, on the final tables, and my to-camera interview for the PKR website. It’s magic.

Realistic PKR may be, and the bonds it forges are impressive: the weekend was full of lively chat between players meeting up for the first time; so lively that two rivals were ejected after punches were thrown. But for my money, nothing in the fantasy of poker can quite compare with the adrenaline rush of living it.

PKR Live 2008 crowns champions - 18th November 2008

LONDON, England -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Poker magazine editor Philip Conneller (PKR username: escalope) bested a field of 150 players to take down the first ever PKR Live main event and the $20,000 first prize this weekend.

After twenty hours of play over two days, Conneller's 7-2os hit runner-runner to make an unlikely straight and take down the title. As he made the call, the monster chip leader said "I've always wanted to win a tournament with seven-deuce". It appears the poker gods were listening.

The first event of its kind, PKR Live saw players make their way from all over the world to London's Loose Cannon Club to play for a share in over $90,000 in prizes while soaking up the uniquely friendly atmosphere. The event was a phenomenal success, with player comments including "Better than sex", "a success of mammoth proportions" and "an awesome weekend" (full player comments can be viewed online at http://snipurl.com/5qx5l).

PKR Live kicked off with a friendly $60 welcome tournament. With 138 runners, the prize pool grew to over $8,000 with the top prize being scooped by popular forum poster Gareth 'ChivalrousGent' Rees.

The $500 Main Event started on day two, and with every seat filled it meant a juicy prize pool of $75,000.

The third day provided the conclusion of the main event plus another shot at glory in a special $10,000 bounty freeroll that offered extra prizes for players eliminating one of the twelve PKR staff enrolled in the tournament. After a fun filled eight hours, Demetris 'magicmoves' Theophanous prevailed to take the final title of the weekend.

The first foray into the live realm saw members from all tiers of PKR.com staffing including Malcolm Graham, CEO and PKR creator, Jez San, mixing it up with the players. The three-day festival was captured by a professional TV crew and highlights will be available to watch exclusively on PKR.tv
PKR Live 2008 Main Event Final Standings

1. Philip 'escalope' Conneller (London, UK) $20,000
2. Henrik 'Pokey85' Eklund (Stockholm, Sweden) $12,000

4. Raymond 'callmebabe' O'Mahoney (Dublin, Ireland) $6,500
5. Thomas 'OleEinar' Gunia (Weimar, Germany) $5,250
6. Pieter 'EurootJE' Salet (Tilburg, Netherlands) $4,250
7. Andrew 'Alfiemyster' Miles (Southampton, UK) $3,250
8. Barry 'Bazultra' Cole (Southampton, UK) $2,500
9. Kent-Ivan 'GreenFaith' Danielsen (Arendal, Norway) $1,850
10. Michael 'TheSqueeze' Panayiotou (London, UK) $1,400

The main event proved an extremely entertaining affair with the final table attracting a remarkable rail of observers soaking in the action as it drew to a close. Here's a closer look at the final tablists:

The PKR Live November Ten

1st place in seat 2: escalope (Final table starting stack 219K)

A veteran of the poker industry and seasoned live poker player, the very first PKR Live champion took down the main event in outrageous fashion – hitting a straight on the river after calling his opponent's all-in pre-flop. His hole cards – 7-2 off-suit (obviously) improved on the final card to beat off pokey85's J-8 and top two pair.

Having gone into the final table in fine shape with a 219,000 stack, escalope showed solid play to become chip leader by some margin, gaining a formidable presence behind the wall of chips he built over three and a half hours of final table action.

Prior to the start of the final table he revealed his slightly sinister side claiming that his favourite hand had to be pocket sixes looking to improve to trips. The ultimate victory with Texas Hold'em's worst starting hand suggests some kind of 'divine intervention' may have indeed been involved! But escalope truly deserves his $20,000 for first place and a massive congratulations for emerging triumphant after more than twenty hours of intense tournament poker.

2nd place in seat 4: pokey85 (232K)

Beaten at the last by home-grown escalope, pokey85 was gracious in defeat making him a true champion in his own right. Always the underdog in the heads-up battle against the eventual winner - who enjoyed a 5-1 chip lead - his defeat whilst ahead until the river adds a degree of weight to 'chip gravity' theories.
A native to Sweden's capital city, pokey85 plays both online and live games back home and recently enjoyed a trip to Macau after winning his way to an APT qualifying package on PKR.com. He claims to be a firm follower of Phil Ivey and judging by his current form it might not be long until he's giving his pro-idol a run for his money.

PKR.com is offering the chance to book a flight to Manila for the next leg of Asia's richest ever poker tour, the APT. Satellites are rolling right now up until the event takes place in January 2009.

3rd place in seat 5: dappadan777 (188K)

Another player on home soil, dappadan777 started the final table with a healthy stack of 188,000 in chips. He held firm to walk away with $8,500 and a commendable third place finish.

Although the 'Dapper Dan' likes to play in big tournaments, he is well-known on PKR.com as a cash game king with a super tight-aggressive style.

The only exception to his strict starting hands rule, he claims, stem from his love-affair with J-10 of clubs – apparently "heads up you can get a lot of pocket pairs into trouble with the draw options…"

Besides being a hugely successful online player, you can also find dappadan777 hitting the real-life baizes. An avid attendee of The Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London (The Vic) and sometimes The Empire, Leicester Square, he adorns the £2 / £5 tables twice a week, looking for shark-feed in the "juicy action" on offer.

4th place in seat 8: callmebabe (340K)

Rolling in late on the first day, callmebabe used his hyper aggressive style to maximum effect, recovering well and building his stack into the chip lead by the start of the final table. Unfortunately the overnight favourite lost some big pots early on and slid down the rankings as the game progressed.

A considerable payday still came his way with $6,500 for a fourth place finish – a result he says has inspired him to move more into the live poker realm and away from the £3 / £6 cash tables he frequents online.

A big fan of Andy Black and of 10-7 suited in the hole (for the disguise value of course), his experience at PKR Live has shown callmebabe the value of the live tournament because of the interaction you get over a long period of time. Finishing fourth, he was battling wits for over 14 hours of tournament poker – a priceless addition to his experience library.

5th place in seat 9: OleEinar (86K)

A very colourful character from Weimar in Germany, OleEinar started the final table as one of the shorter stacks and in complete fear of callmebabe.

After a manic first day in the main event he admitted that fatigue was affecting him but the thought of jetting off to Vegas with the grand prize in his pocket kept spurring him on.

OleEinar is no stranger to the live game but plays the majority of his poker online – both cash and tournaments. Notably, he recently registered a respectable fifth place in the Oktoberfest 2008 'TV Sunday' and is looking forward to his moment of fame on PKR Tournament Television.

All TV tournaments, including the TV specials from Oktoberfest can be viewed 24/7 on PKR.tv. PKR Live footage will also soon be available to watch exclusively on the web channel.

6th place in seat 3: Eurootje (84K)

Eurootje finds a place somewhere in the PKR.com record books having raked enough to make Platinum member level of Club PKR within ten months. Club PKR is unprecedented in the industry with its 'always up, never down' policy and Platinum status made sure Eurootje received VIP treatment at PKR Live as well as entitlement to a host of other exclusive benefits for life.

A live game aficionado, Eurootje finds the selection on offer not quite up to scratch in his home town of Tilburg, Holland. Nonetheless, he frequents live card rooms up to four times a month and was all too happy to make the trip over to London for PKR Live.

Rewarded handsomely with a cool $4,250 for his sixth place finish, the 'push-fold' strategy he has based around calculated players, like Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer, proved to be a worthwhile investment.

7th place in seat 6: Alfiemyster (87K)

Alfiemyster considers himself a cash game titan and only signed up to PKR.com after seeing PKR Live featured in a respected poker magazine. A week later he made the final table of the very event he signed up for, successfully transferring his tight-aggressive ring game strategy from the UK circuit to the tournament scene.

Playing across a range of casinos and card rooms nationwide, including Grosvenors and Stanleys, Alfiemyster enjoys the offerings on PKR.com because, "PKR brings the fun factor back into poker. When I saw the preview for the live event I thought it was amazing value, so here I am!"

Adopting a 'raise-fold' strategy into the second day of the main event, his short stack didn't go too far but cashing over $3,000 for his efforts should take his bankroll up a rung or two.

8th place in seat 1: Bazultra (120K)

Also hailing from Southampton, Bazultra took the trip northbound to PKR Live with mixed expectations. After running bad for weeks he made three final tables in the week prior and then took down the coveted 'TV Showdown'.

A frequent player across brick and mortar card rooms, 'Baz' as he is known in the PKR forums, is looking to raise his stakes in live play – PKR Live giving him a decent bit of practice on his way up.

His game in the run up to the final table proved him to be a hard rock to crack and, inevitably, he admitted that his favourite hand was indeed bullets. Eighth place and $2,500 of winnings left him happy to return to the south coast after what he described as a "top notch weekend."

9th place in seat 7: Greenfaith (50K)

"When I win I'll buy a new car and travel a bit, probably to Vegas, but I have to make a move soon!" Unfortunately at the final table the 'faith' only went so far for a rock solid player who likes to use the 'bluffer' stereotype commonly associated with Scandinavian players to his advantage.

Greenfaith is a massive live tournament player, getting involved in live Sit & Go action three or four times a week when at home in Norway. Favourite hands include low pairs, especially 3-3 and 4-4 which he moves with ultra-aggression pre and post flop.

10th place in seat 10: TheSqueeze (45K)

The earliest exit on the final table, TheSqueeze went from nothing to something and back to nothing again – trebling up early on with a pair of threes which held, blind, against two over cards – the insurrection of the shortest stack was, however, short lived.

Forum favourite and ever the entertainer, TheSqueeze graced the table with character reminiscent of his avatar (he often dons a clown suit on PKR.com) and took home $1,100 – a sum just a fraction of his epic win in the PKR.com Sunday Classic a week earlier.

Baccarat - the cream of casino games

Everybody knows about lucky number seven in the casino, but what about lucky number nine? That's what baccarat is all about, the number nine. Find out more...

Baccarat is one of our favourite games in the PKRCasino, quite simply because of its simplicity. There are several variations of this popular game and some of the names may sound familiar - Punto Banco (literally translated as Bank Point) is the American version played in the PKRCasino, though you may also have seen some of the modified game types including Chemin de fer, Baccarat Banque and Makccarat. Each one takes its own spin on the action and all have come a long way since the original game of Tarrochi was dreamed up on the plains of southern Italy - some time way back in the middle ages.

Since its introduction to the French King, Charles VIII in 1490, baccarat became associated with sophistication and elegance, finding itself reserved for the upper classes of society. Even today it is often known as a game of the aristocracy and it’s not surprising to find it played in separate rooms in some casinos because of the very high stakes allowed with each bet. High rollers all over the world hit the baccarat tables and casinos often lose their largest sums from baccarat bets.

If you're a 007 fanatic, you'll also know that this game is the choice of James Bond, which isn't surprising considering that Mr Bond himself represents the elite of an elite squad. Most people believe that the Texas Hold’em tables were his favourite action spot in the casinos, but real enthusiasts will remember him frequenting the baccarat rooms in five movies as well in the novel version of Casino Royale!

As with most casino games out there, with a proper strategy, smart players can create positive mathematical expectations, so if you want to join the exclusive club of baccarat masters, check out the PKRCasino School to get to grips with the rules and game style and then you can hit the table online from the comfort of your own private room. Good luck!

The Road to Vegas starts here - Press Release - 21st August 2008

Though the 2008 World Series of Poker is over for all but a golden few, PKR.com is looking to the future as it announces of one of the biggest World Series giveaways ever seen. Starting September 15, 2008, the new ‘Road to Vegas’ promotion promises 33 weeks of freeroll action with winners claiming seats to the 2009 WSOP.

Featuring an industry first ‘one a week, every week’ format, the ‘Road to Vegas’ will give players the chance to win a different World Series package every week. With a total of $200,000 in packages up for grabs, the groundbreaking move puts PKR.com players in pole position to book their places in World Series events ranging from $1,500 buy-in tournaments to the $10,000 Championships.

At least 33 dream packages will be available through the weekly freerolls running at PKR.com. Players will be required to qualify for each weekly freeroll, with qualifying criteria changing from week to week. This innovative format means that serious players can target specific bracelet events, while players of varying bankrolls and ability are also offered a realistic chance to ‘viva Las Vegas’.

Marketing Director Simon Prodger added, “This is by far the biggest promotion ever offered by PKR.com and one of the largest World Series promotions in online poker history. Our ‘one a week, every week’ format opens the door for all players and we’d love nothing more than to be celebrating a PKR bracelet winner come next summer.”

Q&A with PKR Marketing Director Simon Prodger

Do all packages include a travel and accommodation allowance?
"Yes, each package includes $1,500 for travel and accommodation expenses. Packages for the Main Event come with a $2,500 allowance."

Can any PKR player enter?
"Absolutely, this isn’t limited to just real money players or high rollers – every single PKR player will have the chance to win a seat at the 2009 World Series. The only thing we have to stipulate is that players must be aged over 21 by the time their chosen event starts."

How many people will be in each week’s qualifying freeroll?
"The number of people in each week’s qualifying freeroll will vary depending on the value of the package that’s up for grabs. For example, freerolls for packages at the lower end of the spectrum will have around 20 runners, while those for Main Event and Championship packages will have no more than 50 runners. We think this balance offers great value for everyone."

What sort of things will I have to do to qualify for that freeroll?
"It will largely depend on the package that’s up for grabs that week. For example, if we’re offering the chance to win a Pot Limit Omaha package, the qualifying criteria for that week will be based around Pot Limit Omaha play and so on. Each week will feature something different, from PKR point races to tournament ranking results, high hand jackpots to community participation.

There will also be freerolls to get into the weekly finals so that everyone gets a shot regardless."

Why have you decided to change the criteria every week?
"There are two main reasons behind changing the qualifying criteria each week; one is to keep the promotion fresh and interesting. But the second, equally as important factor is our desire to offer every player – regardless of ability, experience or budget – the chance to win a trip to the WSOP and represent Team PKR."

Where will I be able to find details for each week?
"Details of each week’s package and qualifying criteria will be made available on the PKR website."

Can I choose the event I play in?
"If there are multiple events that correspond to the package won, then absolutely. For example, players winning a package to play in a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em event can choose which $1,500 NLHE they play in. The only exception will be for players who win a seat at a Championship event, as these are one-offs."

How can you offer packages when the 2009 World Series schedule hasn’t been announced yet?
"Obviously we’re assuming that the 2009 schedule will feature a similar mix of events as the 2008 World Series. Should there be any material changes, we’ll look to amend the packages offered accordingly."

Over 1.1 million players have signed up to PKR.com in the last 12 months alone, taking to total membership to almost 2 million. CasinoAffiliatePrograms Kicks Off Voting for 2nd Annual CAP Awards - 5th August 2008

IRVINE, CA – August 5, 2008 – CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com (http://www.casinoaffiliateprograms.com, commonly referred to as “CAP”), a leading online marketing resource and community website for Internet casino affiliates, announced today the kickoff of the voting stage in its highly anticipated Second Annual CAP Awards.

Scheduled to take place in January 2009 during CAP Euro: London, the CAP Awards is a yearly event held by CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com in collaboration with its sister site, PokerAffiliatePrograms.com (http://www.pokeraffiliateprograms.com, “PAP”), to recognize and honor the most successful and innovative members of the worldwide Internet gaming affiliate marketing community.

The CAP Awards recognize superior achievement for Best Affiliate, Best Affiliate Program, and Best Affiliate Manager in the categories of Casino, Poker, Bingo, Sports Betting, Skill Gaming, and Lottery. There are also awards for Best iGaming Software in the categories of Casino, Poker, and Bingo. Rounding out the awards are Best Overall Affiliate, Best Overall Affiliate Manager, Best iGaming Affiliate Network, and Best Payment System.

Now entering its second year, the CAP Awards are already an important annual tradition for this industry. CAP has made it clear that this year’s ceremony will top last year’s, an extravagant black tie gala event that drew more than 500 guests from all corners of the gaming industry during CAP’s 2008 London conference.

“We were overwhelmed with positive responses to last year’s CAP Awards, which was our first ever,” commented Lou Fabiano, founder and president of CasinoAffiliatePrograms.com (CAP). “And this year, the ceremony will be even bigger and better. We want to encourage everybody in the CAP and PAP communities to visit www.capawards.com and start voting today.”

Representing the largest and longest-running community of its type, with the most popular and highly trafficked user forums in the industry, CAP and PAP are uniquely qualified to empower online gaming’s affiliates and affiliate managers with the decision of naming who has made the year’s greatest achievements among them — and therefore who deserves to take home a coveted CAPPY award.

“This ceremony is unique in that the nominations process is peer-led,” states the official CAP Awards website (http://www.capawards.com), which allows CAP and PAP members to nominate and vote in each category. Nominations submitted from members of the CAP and PAP communities via the site account for about 75 percent of the final result. Overseeing the process is an independent judiciary panel made up of ten respected operators, affiliates, and vendors. In addition to providing important industry insight and expertise, these individuals help ensure that the nominations are well-placed and the awards operate in a fair and non-biased manner.

The democratic nature of the process is designed to ensure that the awards represent a consensus of the online gaming affiliate community as a whole, and are not just the decision of the CAP administrators.

“We are delighted to win this award, especially since we know that this has come directly from the whole affiliate community at large,” stated Roger Raatgever, CEO for Microgaming, 2008’s winner for Best iGaming Software for Affiliates. “As one of the founders of this industry, we feel we have a responsibility to drive it forward, both in terms of games and technology development. To receive recognition for our work from the people that draw the players to the sites in the first place is personally very rewarding and we would like to thank all those that voted for us.”

“This award is a great achievement for us AND our affiliates as they were the people who saw the potential in our product and were instrumental in building us up to the company we are today,” added 2008’s winner for Best Poker Affiliate Program, Margaret Burke, Affiliate Manager for PKR.

“I am truly honored for this distinction ‘Best Casino Affiliate’,” commented Bryan Bailey, Owner and Founder of Casinomeister, 2008’s Best Casino Affiliate. “In the past, I have received awards from players, magazine editors, and industry folk, but to be awarded by my peers is a significant event for me. I am very appreciative for this.”

The voting stage runs through December, leading up to January’s CAP Awards ceremony. For more information please visit www.capawards.com or email news@casinoaffiliateprograms.com.

PKR.com Holds Charity Tournament

Three-dimensional online poker room PKR.com held a charity tournament over the weekend for the benefit of the One To One Children’s Fund attended by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, soccer legend Teddy Sheringham and World Series of Poker Europe runner-up John Tabatabai.

The annual event featured a night of poker and backgammon and was held at London’s Sketch restaurant on Sunday. It helped to raise over $388,000 for the charity, which helps children in the UK, Middle East, Africa, Kosovo, India and Indonesia, thanks to a $708 entry fee that included a champagne reception plus the buy-in to either a PKR.com sponsored poker tournament or the Omar Sharif Backgammon Tournament.

'It was a fantastic night for everyone involved and good to see so many people contributing towards such an important cause,' said Erika Schwartz, Marketing Manager for PKR.com.

The poker event was eventually won by the daughter of famous chef Marco Pierre White, Leticia White, and she walked away with $7,768 after taking out several celebrity players along the way.

PKR soars up the rankings - 11th July 2008

Continuing its impressive growth PKR.com has overtaken industry stalwarts Cryptologic and Entraction to claim 15th spot in the online poker rankings at Pokerscout.com.

This new ranking represents a two place rise and comes less than five months after the next generation poker room passed big name competitors Ladbrokes and Betfair in early 2008. PKR.com has expanded its reach into the poker market through highly innovative marketing campaigns. The introduction of PKR TV, which features the best of PKR tournaments and is broadcast on television across Europe and online via YouTube, has also fuelled growth.

Marketing Director Simon Prodger said, “Poker has been the most competitive sector of online gaming in the past year. Despite this immensely tough marketplace, PKR.com continues to grow thanks to its highly unique and innovative offering”.

PKR.com, a stand alone site, has never accepted cash bets from American players. It is currently ranked fifth amongst other stand alone, non-US poker sites.
